StarPower – The Largest Philanthropic Endevour in Social Media History

Celebrities today have an unmatched power to do great things in the world. With the eyes and ears of the world, they can be the public voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. We’re harnessing this ‘Star Power’ of celebrities to do good in the world through social media, building closer relationships between fans and stars with amazing new content and experiences while raising money for their causes. StarPower is an exciting new step forward in social media, for fans and for the world.

How does it work? For fans, it’s like being in a star’s VIP crew. Stars share exclusives like tickets to events and VIP invitations to real-life meetups, give away amazing personalized memorabilia and merchandise, share early access to news, music, videos, and more. VIP fans are noticed above the noise on other social media sites, experiencing real one-one-one interaction with their favorite stars. Access to news and public releases are free for all users, while tickets, giveaways, and other premium content is accessed with a VIP subscription.

“Picture a big red velvet rope to the VIP section with your favorite star, then being on the cool side of that rope.” says COO Matt Heisie. “It’s like that, but digital.”

For celebrities, StarPower offers an advanced digital platform for managing all their social media, including their new VIP content that fans can subscribe to.

“We wanted to make sure fans on all social media platforms benefit from StarPower, while making social media easier to wrangle for celebs.” said Terri Hitchcock, StarPower CEO. “Our star dashboard, web and mobile apps are going to be the new industry standard for content creation, scheduling, tracking, interaction and analytics.” The software allows celebrities to author content anywhere, integrating with existing social media platforms, while creating VIP content on StarPower for their closest fans. “Fans will be getting closer than ever, while stars will have an even easier time managing their online lives.”

The VIP subscriptions help stars turn their fan bases into an engine for good. “Today, most stars are philanthropists at heart,” Heisie explained. “We built this platform with the requirement that stars use this revenue from subscriptions to fund the causes and projects they care most about.”

StarPower is a global company from day one. An angel-backed venture started in Canada in 2014, StarPower has grown under Australian/American incubator BlueChilli, and has expanded to include social media consulting and PR operations in Los Angeles, California. “We’re bringing a startup attitude to Hollywood and the whole entertainment world,” said Hitchcock, “old media and new media are going to collide in a way that benefits everyone.”

Celebrities Who Participated in the StarPower(tm) Money Booth Cash Grab for Charity at the GBK Pre-Emmy Gifting Lounge

Before the 2014 Emmy Awards, StarPower was delighted to join many of the nominees and 80 other TV and film celebrity guests at the GBK Pre-Emmy Gifting Lounge at the L’Ermitage Beverly Hills. These are the kinds of events where usually, companies give the stars a sample of their product to help seek an opinion or endorsement: StarPower turned that model on it’s head. Instead of asking what we can give the stars, we asked what the stars can be giving back to the world.

We asked all the stars, and members of the media, to step inside the StarPower Money Booth – to Cash Grab for Charity!

Whatever MONEY Celebs could grab out of the air in 20 seconds, we would donate to the charity of their choice, once they’ve activated a free StarPower social media account.  This got everyone in the charitable mood: asking, what am I doing for the causes I care about? Can I be doing more?

Everybody had a blast! The money booth was a hot spot at the gifting lounge, generating lots of buzz among celebrity guests who lined up to make a grab for charity cash and get a FREE StarPower social media account.

The unaniomus mantra was – “we love what you’re doing!”
